On 29 September 2017, ACR+ organised in cooperation with the University of Zaragoza a webinar on how to boost innovation in the waste management sector through public procurement of innovation. This webinar was a catching-up session for ACR+ members who could not attend PPI4Waste final conference which took place on 12 September 2017 in Brussels.

The conference showcased the main findings of the project and gave the opportunity of several discussions during which experts and other participants agreed that more cooperation was needed to support public procurement of innovation (PPI) and help increase the uptake of innovative solutions for waste management. Cooperation can indeed facilitate transfer knowledge on PPI, but also lead to concrete coordinated or joint tenders that will reduce costs and risks.

Thus, as a summary of the conference, this webinar focused on key aspects of PPI such as risks and intellectual property rights, technical specifications and specificities of coordinated approaches. Interesting cases of innovation in waste management were also presented as an introduction. The webinar ended with a call for interest to ACR+ members who might want to launch PPI on their territory. Interested members are encouraged to get in touch with ACR+ secretariat in order to see how ACR+ could support their action, in particular for coordinated procurement initiatives.

The webinar was open exclusively to ACR+ members. As such, for those who could not join, a video recording has been made available in the Members’ space. The presentations from this webinar will also be available soon in this section.
