Showcasing bread waste reduction initiatives in Brussels

At the picturesque Moulin d'Evere in Brussels, the FOODRUS project unveiled the outcomes of its efforts to curb bread waste in Slovakia. The event also provided insights into the state of food waste in Belgium, such as the shocking fact that Belgium takes second place in the list of EU countries that waste the most food. In response, the project presented its various solutions to address the issue, such as the Food Loop App for visualizing food waste and e-learning modules aimed at raising awareness about waste reduction strategies. Afterwards, the attendees were treated to a tasting session featuring products crafted from the FOODRUS cookbook "A Second Life for Bread Waste" showcasing inventive recipes for bread muffins and pizzas made from stale bread.
