Region SUD | Towards zero plastic waste: key actions and achievements

16 December 2024 Members' News

Since 2016, the Region SUD has been actively working to protect the environment, particularly against plastic pollution, and raise public awareness about good practices. With its Climate Plan "One COP Ahead", the Region SUD launched the program “Zero Plastic Waste Stored by 2030”, which includes several initiatives. These include a “Zero Plastic Waste” pledge signed by 356 stakeholders, the "ReMed Zero Plastic" network, which has mobilised 338 organisations for waste collection campaigns, and the “Together for a Waste-Free Nature” project, which has funded 72 initiatives with nearly EUR 3.5 million since 2017. Additionally, the “Bulk and Deposit” call has supported 18 projects with over EUR 1 million since 2023. These actions have tripled the amount of plastic collected between 2017 and 2024.
