New report explores the potential of circular fertilisers in Europe

The FERPLAY project has released a comprehensive report assessing how circular fertilisers can reduce Europe’s reliance on synthetic alternatives while enhancing resource efficiency and ecosystem protection. The study evaluates seven value chains, considering their environmental, economic, and social impacts, alongside factors such as public acceptance, regulations, and technical feasibility for scaling up. These findings offer valuable guidance for fertiliser producers, policymakers, and farmers, supporting the transition to sustainable agricultural practices. 

The report provides a comparative analysis of circular and non-renewable fertilisers, examines economic and regulatory perspectives, and outlines key recommendations for integrating circular fertilisers into mainstream agriculture.
