The HOOP project has reached a new milestone with the publication of its peer-reviewed article, “Innovative Circular Biowaste Valorisation—State of the Art and Guidance for Cities and Regions”. Accepted in the open-access journal Sustainability, the article builds on findings from a HOOP report, offering critical insights into advanced biowaste valorisation technologies and their potential impact on urban bioeconomies.
By employing a novel screening methodology, researchers identified and assessed 25 cutting-edge technologies that transform biowaste into high-value products for sectors including agriculture, chemistry, and bioplastics. The article serves as a practical guide for city and regional authorities, enabling them to adopt innovative bioeconomy solutions for sustainable waste management.
