Key takeaways for advancing circular fertilisers in Europe

As part of the FER-PLAY project, partners ACR+ and EBA organised several co-creation events, including online working groups and meetings with local public authorities, where key insights were gathered on promoting circular fertiliser practices. These provided valuable recommendations, have been collected in a report, on recommendations for public administrations.
Among the takeaways, the report notes the importance of controlling pollutants at the source in municipal biowaste and urban wastewater streams, and the need for strengthening bioeconomy value chains to support the circular fertiliser market. It also emphasises the role of public authorities in promoting adoption, whether through regulatory frameworks, green procurement practices, or partnerships with other EU regions to share cutting-edge technologies.
