More good practices promoting circularity in construction

The Interreg Europe INERTWASTE project has reached its halfway point, marking a transition from knowledge exchange to the transfer and integration of findings into local policies. The project's overarching goal is to introduce and enhance policies related to the management of inert and inorganic waste. Key good practices highlighted by the project include the development of options for increasing the recycling of construction and demolition waste, the valorisation of biomass bottom ash for road construction (as demonstrated by ACCIONA in Spain), and Recycon Element's production of concrete with 100% recycled aggregates to reduce CO2 and virgin material consumption.

The project has also showcased the development of Climate Action Plans, such as the DK2020 plan in Guldborgsund Municipality, and methods for digitalising and qualifying existing building materials to improve waste management. As the project moves forward, the final Transnational Learning Journey in Guldborgsund Municipality will focus on the role of local public authorities in driving green transition in the construction and industrial sectors.
