Genova (AMIU)

AMIU Genova is a 100% public company and the main provider in Liguria region (North West of Italy) for environment, waste management and circular economy. It employs over 1,700 people, has an annual turnover of 154 million euros and serves 653,000 citizens in the Metropolitan Area of Genoa, through 14 logistic points. It owns and operates a sorting plant (lightweight multimaterial, mixed cellulose fractions, cardboard packaging) and a landfill (ongoing reclamation works). In 2017 AMIU collected 284,000 tons of waste. Through the implementation of a new Industrial Plan based on resource recovery, the company is fully engaged in increasing the recycled waste rate which at present is 33%.
