Exploring tools for soil awareness and collaboration
The PREPSOIL project has released two videos showcasing innovative tools to promote soil awareness and collaborative action in ACR+ member Pays de la Loire region of France. The first video highlights La Fresque du Sol (The Soil Collage), a creative and interactive tool designed to educate participants on the complexities of soil and the importance of its preservation. Through 50 cards and a three-hour session, participants explore soil formation, its ecological functions, and the ecosystem services it provides. By simulating real-world roles and challenges, the Soil Collage fosters a shared understanding and cross-disciplinary discussions on protecting this vital resource. Available in multiple languages under a Creative Commons licence, the tool has gained international traction for its innovative approach.
The second video introduces the ConcerTo Methodology, an initiative that facilitated a multi-stakeholder consultation on organic matter management in the region. Between 2020 and 2022, this methodology brought together diverse actors to define success factors for collaborative projects related to organic matter, with a particular focus on enhancing soil health. The video outlines the origins of the approach, its benefits for the region, and the tangible outcomes achieved through this operational action plan. Both videos serve as valuable resources for regions looking to adopt sustainable practices in soil and organic matter management.
