Once again, the Catalan Waste Agency (ARC) organised the Apilo XII competition, aimed at promoting the selective collection of batteries among the educational community and families of schools in Catalonia in a fun and participatory way. In this 9th edition of the Apilo XII contest, approximately 435 000 children (APILO agents) from 1 139 educational centers participated, collecting 67 011 kg of batteries. This edition set participation and collection records, with a 65% increase in collected battery weight and a global growth of over 40% in both centers and APILO agents. 
 
In total, six prizes of EUR 1 500 each were awarded for the purchase of school and/or sports equipment or for educational activities. The prizes go to the six schools in each area that have collected the most kg of batteries among their pupils.
