67.7% of Flemish industrial waste was given a second life in 2022. This is according to new figures from OVAM, calculated using for the first time the new and more accurate data monitoring system MATIS. In total, 31.4 million tonnes of industrial waste was produced in Flanders. Excluding construction and demolition waste, there remains 14.6 million tonnes of industrial waste. Notably, about one million tonnes of this is residual waste, indicating significant potential for further recycling. Discover how OVAM is working towards more high-quality recycling in the whitepaper 'Recycling, an asset for Flanders'.
