The indicators report published by ACR+ member Rezero aims to carry out an analysis and continuous monitoring of relevant data that will help to understand the status and trends in the consumption of natural resources and waste generation in the Balearic Islands in order to chart the path towards a zero waste society. In 2020, the Balearic Islands had the lowest levels of waste generation in the last decade. The health crisis caused by Covid-19 and the entry into force of the new Balearic Waste Law are the two factors that have intervened in the reduction of waste on the Islands. The throwaway consumption trend remains unchanged. Key items such as plastic water bottles, coffee capsules and disposable menstrual products continue to increase.
