A study carried out by ACR+ member ARC concludes that the reduction in the consumption of single-use plastic bags has been consolidated in recent years, with a decrease of more than 68% between 2018 and 2020. In 2020, 375 million single-use plastic bags were consumed (49 units per person per year), while in 2018 the figure was 1,195 million (158 units per person per year). By 2020, the total reduction rate from the initial 2007 values (which were 327 bags per person per year) was already 85%. In other words, consumption has gone from almost one such bag per person every day to less than one per week.Source: https://residus.gencat.cat (in Catalan)
