ACR+ members Rezero and Retorna, together with their fellow partners of the Alianza Residuos Cero, published a manifesto asking the new Spanish government to implement a deposit-return system for beverage packaging in the country. They highlight the system as the only answer to comply with the EU target of 90% of plastic bottles for beverage selectively collected by 2029. Thus, signatories of the manifesto are calling the government to establish the objective, at national and European level, to increase the reuse of beverage packaging by 5% minimum per year to reach the target of 70% by 2025. They ask for a deposit-return system for all the single-use beverage packaging, all types of materials included. They also would like to see the use of a deposit-return system to more than just beverage packaging, for example, to include food packing.
