Zero Waste Scotland | Recycle Week 2024 "Don’t Let It Go to Waste"

22 October 2024 Members' News

Zero Waste Scotland's Recycle Week campaign, titled "Don’t Let It Go to Waste", ran from 14 to 20 October 2024. The campaign celebrated the recycling efforts in Scotland but highlighted that many people still make mistakes by not placing items in the correct bins. It emphasised the importance of ensuring that recycling efforts are fully realised.

During the previous year's Recycle Week, Zero Waste Scotland released the Household Waste Composition Analysis, revealing that 52% of kerbside waste could have been recycled. This finding suggests that recycling services in Scotland are underused. In response, this year a toolkit was developed to promote positive recycling behaviors using this research. A variety of downloadable and customisable resources were made available, including the Recycle Week Toolkit and a Hero Film, which shows how much recyclable material ends up in general waste.
