Fourteen community groups in North London will benefit from a total of GBP 250 000 (EUR 291 753) allocated through the revamped North London Community Fund, a flagship initiative of the North London Waste Authority (NLWA). The projects encompass a range of waste reduction strategies including repair, upcycling and textiles, sustainability, food waste, and recycling and reuse education. Examples of projects include a resident-led household and gardening tool lending library, supporting the establishment of a repair club which builds on the legacy of one of last year’s funded projects, and a youth education programme focused on waste prevention and environmental protection.
The NLWA's commitment to waste prevention and resource preservation led to the establishment of this initiative, aimed at supporting local groups in addressing waste-related challenges at the grassroots level. Since its launch in 2017, the fund has facilitated 59 projects, benefiting thousands of residents across North London and beyond.
