The Green Sport Hub’s Self-Assessment Tool, aiming to support sport organisations in evaluating their environmental performances, is coming into its final shape. The validation phase showed high scores and positive feedback on its features, functionalities, focuses and the proposed self-assessment process in general. The last of such feedback came from the participants of a workshop on environmental management in sports, hosted by ACR+ member Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa (Italy), and organised by the ACCESS project.
The tool received positive comments as it was regarded as a non-invasive and scenario-based tool, rather than a data collection-based tool. Tools based on data and figures are certainly useful and as important, nevertheless, a sport organisation first needs to reach a level of environmental management which would allow them to conduct such an assessment. Another remark was about the diversity of sport and the need of having tools which allow less known and less popular sports to be able to assess their environmental performance.
