FOODRUS | First replication workshop in Bulgaria during Zero Waste Festival

On 17 June, the FOODRUS partnership supported the organisation of the first Zero Waste Festival in Bulgaria, together with the green enthusiasts from Plovdiv region. During the event the team of Plovdiv Chamber of Commerce and Industry promoted the results of the FOODRUS project and raised awareness for the issues of Food Loss and Waste (FLW) in the Bulgarian business environment. They presented some of the most appropriate FOODRUS solutions to be implemented further in Plovdiv region and promoted all FOODRUS deliverables and resources to the public, to be used locally in fighting FLW.

Some of the topics that were discussed in the meetings are soil health as a factor for the sustainability of the agri-food chain; successful business examples and best practices from Europe for managing FLW; how turning back to traditional products and cooking can be a successful “zero waste” approach; innovative solutions for improving consumer culture, as well as improving the cooperation between stakeholders in raising and managing FLW issues.
