Circular Economy takes the stage at Climate Chance Europe-Africa 2025 Summit
ACR+ actively participated in the Climate Chance Europe-Africa 2025 Summit, held on 31 March and 1 April in Marseille under the theme “Adaptation: Taking Action.” The event brought together 1,500 participants from over 40 countries—including local governments, NGOs, businesses, researchers, and youth organisations—and resulted in the Marseille Declaration, now open for signature. The declaration calls for stronger Europe-Africa cooperation on climate adaptation and will feed into future international milestones, including COP30 and the EU’s 2026 adaptation strategy. Key priorities outlined include private sector engagement, resilient agri-food systems, and enhanced policy cooperation.
ACR+ co-organised a workshop with the EU Climate Pact on “The Strategic Role of the Circular Economy”, highlighting its potential to strengthen climate adaptation through waste prevention and resource efficiency. The session focused on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and provided a platform to promote the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR), with contributions from ADEME, INEC, and other partners. ACR+ also contributed to shaping the Marseille Declaration by emphasising the role of circular economy in improving supply chain resilience, reducing material dependencies, and supporting local action. The summit served as a valuable opportunity for ACR+ to strengthen partnerships, promote its flagship initiatives, and position circular economy as a key lever in climate adaptation policy.
