Procuring recycling of single use sanitary materials - Online Workshop
Organised by "BRINC"
To ensure the safety of patients and workers in hospitals and care centers, large quantities of health safety and single-use personal protection items are discarded after one single use.
In the eight hospitals managed by the Catalan Health Institute (ICS), thousands of gowns, aprons and surgical sheets, along with millions of masks and gloves are sent to landfills for incineration every month, in spite of the high value and potential for recovery of these materials. Mindful of this, the ICS is now looking for ways to reuse or recycle these large amounts of sanitary waste through public procurement.
In the framework of the BRINC project, ACR+ organised a workshop giving the opportunity to the ICS to present its needs, procurement journey and challenges so far, and offered a space to gather insights from other participants to improve its tendering process..
