Until October 2023, the packaging recycling rate in ACR+ member Lisbon increased by 5.29% compared to the same period in 2022, representing a collection increase of 643 tonnes by Urban Hygiene teams. These data were presented in Lisbon during the 1st European Meeting on Packaging Waste organised by Sociedade Ponte Verde, a Portuguese packaging sorting, collection and recycling organisation. The meeting analysed Portuguese and European public policies on waste management and packaging recycling, highlighting ambitious goals and commitments. It also discussed the role of smart and sustainable cities in the fight against climate change and the improvement of citizens' quality of life.
