With single-use glass having the highest environmental footprint, ACR+ member Reloop believe the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) presents a crucial opportunity to guide the reduction of its usage and promote the adoption of reusable glass alternatives by 2040. To achieve this, Reloop, together with Zero Waste Europe, proposes a set of measures including material-specific waste prevention targets, sectoral-specific reuse targets, the inclusion of glass beverage containers in deposit return systems with a 90% collection target, and the implementation of recycled content targets for packaging placed on the market.
