ACR+ member OVAM has published a report on the enforcement of regulations for businesses by its control team in 2022. The team conducted 251 inspections to ensure that companies correctly collected, processed, and disposed of discarded vehicles, electrical or electronic devices, oil, tires, or batteries. In 60% of cases, the team found violations, with 44% receiving warnings or recommendations and 31% receiving fines. The team also informed and sensitised companies about batteries and discarded electrical and electronic equipment, with close collaboration with Bebat (battery collection and recycling organisation) and Recupel (organisation for the collection and treatment of discarded electrical equipment and lamps in Belgium).
