A new sorting centre has been inaugurated in the heart of XVII district of Paris on a land owned by ACR+ member City of Paris. Situated closer to the waste production sites, the centre will deal with the selective collection of 900,000 inhabitants of Parisian districts and neighbouring municipalities (Saint-Ouen, Clichy-la-Garenne ...) and will in particular receive recyclable waste from the nearby pneumatic collection terminal.

With an operating capacity of 45,000 tonnes per year, the centre will be able to sort recyclable paper and packaging up to 15 tonnes per hour. In particular, it was designed to respond to the simplification of sorting instructions for plastic packaging put in place in January 2019 in Paris and thus treat all new streams of plastics.

The centre is part of the City of Paris’ strategy to reduce waste generation and improve its management, which also includes the establishment of sorting stations in the public space in the near future thanks to the "Trilib" device , experimented for two years and which will be generalized at the end of 2019.
