ACR+ member REZERO, the Catalan Foundation for Waste Prevention and Responsible Consumption, commended the Baleric Regional Parliament for passing a legislative package banning single-use plastics on 29 January 2019.

Aimed at preventing soil, ocean and sea pollution, the new law is based on the principle of EPR and sets ambitious targets for waste reduction by putting stringent controls, including bans, in placeto curb the commercialisation of a range of plastic products. A contributor to the efforts and public discussions preceding the passing of the new bill, REZERO welcomed it as “an important step in moving away from the throw-away culture on which our economy is based”, REZERO Director Rosa Garcia said in a statement.
