Local authorities want to play a pioneering role in the search for an improved system of collection of packaging waste in Flanders. This is why; eleven Flemish intermunicipal waste associations, including ACR+ member IBOGEM, and the city of Antwerp joined forces in the Recover partnership and put money on the table to find solutions for the current policy. For this, Recover commissioned a large-scale study on how to improve packaging waste policy. It analysed the existing system using eight different sub-studies and looked for new policy instruments. ACR+ contributed to this research by providing some preliminary results based on its experience on the matter.  The main results of the research are gathered in a report "Towards a better policy for packaging waste in Flanders", which includes concrete policy proposals in its final chapter. The report was presented on 25 October 2018 in Antwerp and is foreseen to be translated into English.
