On 19 – 20 October 2016 ACR+ participated in the SwitchMed Connect conference in Barcelona, an annual gathering of Mediterranean stakeholders to build synergies, exchange knowledge and scale up eco and social innovations.

This conference is organised by SwitchMed, an initiative that supports and connects stakeholders to scale-up sustainable consumption and production in the Southern Mediterranean Region through social and eco innovations. It is fully financed by the European Union and implemented by regional partners (UNIDO, UNEP-DTIE, UNEP/MAP and SCP/RAC), local partners in the target countries as well as expert teams and strategic partners in and around the Mediterranean.

The conference gathered more than 350 participants from 16 Southern and Northern  Mediterranean countries including green entrepreneurs, small  and medium sized enterprises, policy-makers, civil society organisations, financing institutions and business networks and  intermediaries.

During these two days, ACR+ participated as a  speaker in two sessions. During the first one, “Circular economy opportunities in the Mediterranean cities”, ACR+ Secretary General Françoise Bonnet presented the Circular Europe Network and some of the ACR+ activities in the Mediterranean area.

ACR+ participated also in “Green industrial zones in the Mediterranean”, a session on industrial symbiosis organised by UNIDO during which the FISSAC project was presented.
