The European Metropolitan Authorities (EMA) announced that its 2024 conference will be hosted by ACR+ member Metropolitan Region of Amsterdam (MRA), as revealed during this year's conference in Helsinki. The 2023 conference, titled “Innovation in Metropolitan Areas through Circular Economy and Public-Private Partnerships”, brought together participants from across Europe (including ACR+ members MRA, Barcelona Metropolitan Area and the City of Warsaw) to discuss common opportunities and challenges for sustainable growth in European regions. MRA took part in a panel discussion where they shared experiences regarding the circular economy, such as Cirwinn and the Price Innovation Centre in Almere, where sustainable recycling solutions are being developed to mitigate the environmental impact of waste. Participants signed the “EMA Political Declaration”, in which the EMA network advocates for a greater role and support for metropolitan areas in European Union policies to address challenges related to climate change and green transition.
