Metrop Region Amsterdam small

The Amsterdam Metropolitan Area (MRA) authorities are well on track towards their joint ambition to make 50% of their circular procurement by 2025. The agreements reached in 2018 have been incorporated into a letter of intent. The ambition was to buy at least 10% of its products, goods and services in a circular way by 2022. Now that this first interim target has been achieved, the next step is to aim for 50% circular sourcing by 2025. In that year, it will determine how stakeholders can switch to fully circular procurement as quickly as possible.

In order to realise the agreements, a roadmap has been developed for MRA participants. This is a practical handbook, in which authorities can find out what they can do to achieve procurement ambitions. A helpdesk has also been established where advice can be obtained, and a Circular Procurement Manager has been appointed.
