On 17 November, ACR+ was invited by the Belgian Federal Public Services to take part to a stakeholder dialogue aiming to prepare the upcoming Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union. This occasion allowed ACR+ to not only defend its members’ interests, and recall the importance of empowering local authorities, but also to gain insights in the upcoming presidency’s programme. Circular economy will have a key role in this programme following three priorities: Adaptation, resilience, and just transition. The Belgian Presidency will be taking place at a defining moment, with the elections of the European Parliament due in June and the appointing of the new Commission. Additionally, the next steps post 2024 of the European Circular Economy Action Plan, which was adopted in 2020, will be triggering debates.
