ACR+ member OVAM is an active partner in the research project CREAToR, a European cooperation between 17 partners from industry, research and public institutions from seven different countries. The project aims to develop new techniques to remove harmful, already banned flame retardants from plastic waste.

In cooperation with four other Horizon 2020 projects, CREAToR has now published a joint policy brief on the challenges of the transition to a European circular plastics economy and formulated several policy recommendations to overcome them. For example, European rules on cross-border transport of waste complicate international recycling research and there is still too little knowledge on the possible applications of plastic recyclate.
