The 11th edition of the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) attracted thousands of participants this year, who organised and took part in over 16,500 actions to raise awareness about waste prevention, reuse, and recycling between 16 and 24 November 2019. As a result, the EWWR had another record-breaking year, with the number of registered activities increasing by 15.5% year-on-year and by a factor of six compared to the first edition in 2009.

The campaign was made possible by the contribution of 40 coordinators, who supported volunteers and promoted the EWWR at the local level in 30 countries. The actions deemed to be the most impactful and creative will be rewarded at the annual EWWR Awards Ceremony, which will take place on 2 June 2020 in Brussels.

As the EWWR Secretariat, ACR+ welcomed the unprecedented media coverage the campaign enjoyed this year in Europe and the support it received from as far away as Canada, the Dominican Republic, and Japan. A number of ACR+ members organised actions and coordinated the EWWR in their countries and regions.
