The Guideline on Separate Collection offers an in-depth analysis of various bio-waste collection schemes, evaluating their advantages and disadvantages. This guideline includes a set of Best Practices tailored for households and other producers in different contexts, providing valuable insights for municipalities, policymakers, waste haulers, recycling entities, and technical practitioners. These resources are designed to assist both upper-level authorities in refining policy measures and lower-level authorities in implementing effective solutions.

Meanwhile, the Guideline on Quality Compost and Digestate outlines the treatment technologies and resources necessary for producing high-quality compost and digestate. This document covers processing options, product characteristics, quality assurance systems, and relevant EU legislation, including the ECN quality assurance scheme. Together with the guidelines on governance and economic incentives, and communication and engagement practices, these documents are essential tools for those involved in bio-waste management, whether they are just beginning their implementation journey or seeking to enhance their existing systems.

These guidelines are part of a series of four prepared by the LIFE Biobest project to provide a robust framework for unlocking the full potential of bio-waste recycling in Europe.
