ACR+ member OVAM informed that companies in Flanders are obliged to switch to transparent bags for their residual waste from 1 January 2023. This will allow collectors to easily and quickly check for sorting errors. The obligation only applies to residual waste offered in containers, not to selectively collected waste streams. The degree of transparency of the rubbish bags is not laid down in VLAREMA (Flemish regulation on sustainable management of material cycles and waste materials). The only criterion is that it must be possible to look through the bag to check its contents for possible sorting errors. Source: (in Dutch)
