Working for a circular bioeconomy at local and regional level

From 26 June 2018 11:00 until 26 June 2018 12:15
Categories: ACR+ Events, Webinar

ACR+, in collaboration with DG RTD of the European Commission, organised a webinar entitled “Working for a circular bioeconomy at local and regional level”.

This webinar provided ACR+ members with knowledge and practical experiences on bio-waste management in the framework of a circular bioeconomy. Several strategies can be applied by cities and regions to turn bio-waste into a resource: from proximity/home composting and centralised/decentralised anaerobic digestion to the development of new fertilisers and bio-based products in bio-refineries. The range of opportunities is huge and it is essential that local and regional authorities are provided with more knowledge about the current framework and trends, as well as challenges and potential benefits.

  • Introduction (ACR+)
  • A European framework for a circular bioeconomy (Andrea Accorigi, DG RTD, European Commission)
  • DECISIVE: innovative options for decentralised prevention and management of bio-waste (Anne Tremier, IRSTEA)
  • The case of LIPOR: optimising the management of the organic fraction in the Greater Porto area (Susana Lopes and João Graça, LIPOR)
  • URBIOFIN: converting bio-waste into chemical building blocks, biopolymers and additives (Caterina Coll Lozano, IMECAL)
  • The experience of Amsterdam in supporting innovators for the bioeconomy (Stef le Fevre, City of Amsterdam; Jolein Baideman, Amsterdam Metropolitan Region)
  • Question & Answers
