On 18 June 2018, a charter on waste management was signed by the municipality of Paris and private and social housing managers. The goal of the Charter is to improve collection and sorting of packaging and paper waste. The project is part of the Territorial Performance Plan prepared by ACR+ member CITEO as well as the Zero Waste strategy of ACR+ member Paris.

Generally, waste sorting performances are lower in the apartment buildings, as such Paris and CITEO aim to mobilise building managers in order to carry out actions aiming to raise awareness amongst inhabitants and thereby improve sorting.
Concrete actions foreseen in the charter include:

• Increase residents’ access to separate collection;
• Ameliorate working conditions and the management of collection equipment;
• Improve inhabitants awareness;
• Expand food waste collection.
