To capitalise on the successful SWIM-H2020 project, a new four-year EU funded regional support project has just been launched. The Water and Environment Support (WES) project in the ENI Southern Neighbourhood region aims at protecting the environment and improving the management of scarce water resources in the Mediterranean. It will tackle problems related to pollution prevention and water use efficiency through national and regional activities taking place in eight countries of the MENA region (Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine and Tunisia).

Expanding on its role in the SWIM-H2020 project, ACR+ joined the WES consortium as a technical expert. The focus of the ACR+ activities will be on legal and economic instruments (e.g. DRS, EPR schemes, etc.) and the management of key waste streams such as WEEE, organic waste, and medical waste. ACR+ will provide technical expertise in environmental topics such as plastic pollution and marine litter, circular economy and waste management schemes.

The project consortium is now finalizing the inception phase to tailor the topics to the priorities of each country.
