newsletter INTHERWASTE logo The 6th edition of the INTHERWASTE newsletter was sent out on 21 March 2019 and can be accessed online here. Seeing how the project is fast approaching the end of the first phase, the level of activity has intensified in recent months, something that the newsletter reflects. Thus, in November, the six project partners gathered in Tallinn, Estonia for the last meeting of that first phase. The event was opened by city officials and included site visits to a decommissioned landfill and a local recycling centre.

Since the beginning of the year, the six project partners, under the guidance of lead partner and ACR+ member SADECO, have been hard at work to finalise a handbook of 50 best practices in waste management in urban heritage sites. Published in mid-March, the document represents the culmination of three years of technical exchanges and research.

Most importantly, the project partners have finalised their action plans in March, which they will be implementing and monitoring during the second phase of the project (2019-2021). The plans comprise of a few best practices encountered over the course of the project, which each participating municipality will finance and carry out.

Lastly, the newsletter elaborates on the publication of the second and last project brochure, which is scheduled to take place at the end of March. The document will summarise the accomplishments of the first phase of INTHERWASTE and will be targeted at policymakers and waste professionals.
