An exchange on the framework for waste management and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) in the EU and Russia was organised on 1 November 2018 in Moscow, Russia. The event was organised on the initiative of the project EcoLounge - a community of professionals and experts concerned with issues of sustainability and the state of the environment in Russia.

ACR+ took part in this exchange to present the European Union policy regarding waste management in general and EPR more specifically, including the legal framework, targets and performances, as well as the changes over time and examples of concrete practices. The added value of a network for exchange of knowledge and good practices - such as ACR+ and the EPR Club - in achieving good results was especially highlighted. The European experience was stacked up against the situation in Russia, presented by the main Advisory Expert of the State Duma Committee for Ecology and Environment Protection. In the open discussion which followed, it was noted that Russia is still in the beginning stages of approaching waste management issues and facing important challenges. At the same time there are also big opportunities for cooperation and learning from existing experiences.
