Zero Waste Scotland

ACR+ member Zero Waste Scotland organized on 5 and 6 October 2016 the Scottish Resources Conference 2016, gathering world-leading experts in sustainability and resource management and showcasing innovative business models at the heart of the circular economy.

It was opened by Waste Scotland’s Chief Executive Iain Gulland who stated that Scotland is moving the circular economy from rhetoric into reality thanks to major EU and Scottish Government investment. ACR+ participated in the conference in the person of its Secretary General, Françoise Bonnet, who took the stage in the second day during the session dedicated to producer responsibility.

Also on that day the Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change, Environment and Land Reform Roseanna Cunningham has announced a targeted funding call, under the Circular Economy investment fund, for local enterprise development bodies across Scotland to accelerate the shift to a circular economy within their regions.

Ms Cunningham outlined the ‘circular regions’ funding call from Zero Waste Scotland, which will help enterprise networks to identify and implement innovative circular economy ideas from small or medium sized enterprises (SMEs). This regional opportunity is part of an £18 million circular economy investment programme being managed by Zero Waste Scotland using funding from the Scottish Government and European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
