LIPOR

The “Dose Certa” project has seen; more than 16.500 people participate in training, over 9.300 composters installed, 1.466 sites made available in biological gardens, 2 million m2 of gardens for natural and biological gardens and 29 restaurants avoid food waste.

“Horta da Formiga” is a LIPOR initiative whose main objective is to provide a sustainable green area where agricultural and environmental practices are implemented. These practices are then demonstrated and promoted by LIPOR in the following associated municipalities: Espinho, Gondomar, Maia, Matosinhos, Porto, Povoa de Varzim, Valongo and Vila do Conde, and reinforce LIPOR’s commitment to sustainable management.

Horta da Formiga is more than a sustainable space, it is a project that provides both the concepts and tools, so that any citizen can easily apply good environmental practices, in turn promoting their quality of life and a more sustainable region. In partnership with local authorities, parish councils, companies and institutions, LIPOR offers several services in the fields of composting, organic farming, sustainable gardening and biodiversity, and food waste, mostly free of charge.

With about of 1 hectare, it is possible to enjoy an organic vegetable garden, orchard, meadow, animal area and aromatic garden and contemplate nature.
