On 1 March 2019, ACR+ member Reloop, together with the Australian Council of Recycling (ACOR), revealed their position on the South Australian single-use plastics (SUPs) and container deposit scheme (CDS), which had been published on 22 February 2019.

The Reloop and ACOR discussion paper noted that the schemes represent an exciting development toward a circular economy, one that aligns with the public’s expectations that the government will act on the environmental problems posed by SUPs like plastic bottles for beverages.

ACOR emphasised the fact that its members were eager to work with the South Australian government in all facets of the reform agenda and that they would bring considerable industry expertise and intelligence to this process. Meanwhile, Reloop Pacific added that it can offer insights into the developments related to the EU’s SUP Directive.
