ACR+ member Reloop, and CM Consulting have released an updated report on Deposit Return Systems (DRS). This report provides a comprehensive summary of DRS programs in 40 countries/regions around the world. Over 130 million people in the EU alone live in countries with deposit-systems. It is also used in most Canadian provinces, 10 US states, and large portions of Australia. The latest jurisdiction to implement a container deposit programme was New South Wales in Australia on 1 December 2017. Other jurisdictions that have announced plans for, or that have implemented container deposit laws but whose programmes are not yet operational include Scotland, Fiji, Guam, Turks & Caicos, Barbados, Western Australia (expected to start between 1 July 2019 and 1 January 2020), and Queensland (expected to start on 1 November 2018).

The report includes information on each programme scope, deposit fees, DRS operators, operation and redemption system, and the latest return rates. Moreover the report contains a scheme showing the flow of money and beverage containers in each system.
