UrbanWaste

The municipality of Ponta Delgada on the island of Sao Miguel will be the host of the 7th Mutual Learning event on 20-21 March 2018 and the accompanying Municipality Forum within the framework of URBAN-WASTE.

The event will focus on discussing the biowaste treatment options, suitable for urban areas and those which can serve as a solution for seasonal variations in the biowaste quantities due to tourism and bigger number of visitors and seasonal residents. In addition, the study visits will be organised in order to showcase the solutions already in place on the island. Two hotels will be presented that are advanced in terms of waste management adjusted to tourism. The Municipality and the regional authority will also present how they manage waste collection in the countryside and nature reserves where a large number of tourists go.

ACR+, being a co-organiser of the programme, is inviting ACR+ members to get in touch with Erneszt Kovács in case they are interested in joining the Mutual Learning event and share solutions and practices implemented in their cities or regions.
