The final international conference of the PPI4Waste project took place on 12 September 2017 in Brussels, organised by ACR+ who has taken the coordination of the project following the termination of the previous coordinator, IAT.

The conference entitled "Feedback and opportunities for public procurement of innovation in the waste sector" gathered public procurers and suppliers committed to boost innovation in the waste sector. The conference showcased the main findings of the project and gave the opportunity of several discussions during which experts and other participants agreed that more cooperation was needed to support public procurement of innovation (PPI) and help increase the uptake of innovative solutions for waste management. Cooperation can indeed facilitate transfer knowledge on PPI, but also lead to concrete coordinated or joint tenders that will reduce costs and risks. The main outputs of the projects are available online on www.ppi4waste.eu.

More details can be found in the press release of the conference.

Although the project will finish at the end of the month, ACR+ is committed to work further on the topic of public procurement within circular economy and is thus inviting its members to contact the Secretariat if they are interested to exchange expertise and common project capitalising on the findings and topics of PPI4Waste.

In the meantime, for those who could not attend PPI4Waste final conference, an interactive webinar is scheduled on 29 September 2017 (11:00 – 12:30) as a catching-up session for ACR+ members in order to explain practically how public authorities can use procurement of innovation in order to support innovative solutions in the waste management sector.
