The EPR Club was created as an ACR+ initiative supported financially and technically by ACR+ members. Today the EPR Club has an open membership gathering a wide range of stakeholders, including public authorities, producer organisations, industry federations, waste management companies, NGOs.

The EPR Club is a multi-stakeholder platform for exchange of knowledge and dissemination of good EPR practices amongst key European stakeholders and experts, including the European institutions. The aim is to foster dialogue on policy developments and technical implementation of EPR schemes in order to bring forward European legislation and policy on EPR.

The EPR Club was launched in June 2012, with the support of the European Commission.

Highlights

The year 2019 started with an update of the EPR Club website, which is still on-going. Very soon, the website will have a fresh look and many new features, including an upgrade of its Virtual library of EPR-related resources.

The first lunch debate of the year was hosted on 17 January 2019 by ACR+, focusing on DRS for packaging. During that event, the new ACR+ report “Deposit-refund systems for one-way beverage packaging in Europe” was presented, outlining the current situation in Europe. This was followed by key interventions from European experts who highlighted both the advantages and disadvantages of such systems, and an active discussion between all participants on the role of deposits within the mix of instruments put in place to help driving the circularity of packaging.
