EWWR logo EN D BD 200pxThe European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) is the biggest Europe-wide initiative promoting the implementation of awareness-raising actions about sustainable resource and waste management during a single week. It encourages a wide range of audiences (public authorities, private companies, schools, civil society as well as citizens themselves) to get involved.

Since 1 July 2017 the EWWR is coordinated by the EWWR Steering Committee. The project was originally launched in 2009 under the European Commission’s LIFE+ programme, which co-financed the project until mid-2017.

Highlights

New record number for the 10th edition of the EWWR, with 14,347 actions across 30 countries taking place from 17 to 25 November 2018! This year, 32 Coordinators across 20 countries have promoted the initiative and mobilised a varied range of stakeholders. The thematic focus of the year was hazardous waste prevention. EWWR encouraged Action Developers to think about ways to detox and diminish the use of toxic products in their nearest surroundings such as bathrooms, kitchens, sheds and garage. To promote this theme, ACR+ produced a new poster and factsheets as resources for Coordinators and Action Developers.

The next EWWR Awards, to recognise the most outstanding actions from the 2018 EWWR, are set to take place on 15 May 2019. Register now to book your place!

Don’t hesitate and take part in the EWWR!
